Offset Your Carbon Footprint
The energy you use in your home, in your car and when you travel by plane all create carbon emissions. As you most likely know, you can offset the carbon that you help to create by purchasing Carbon Offsets. To do so, one calculates the approximate amount of carbon they produce and then multiple that by the current cost of carbon. The organization you use to purchase these offsets then invests your contribution in wind power, solar power and other green technologies throughout the world that will help to lower future carbon emissions.

At GreenWorks, we want to do something different, something local! If you offset your carbon through the GreenWorks Carbon Calculator below, the proceeds of your contributions will go to clean energy and other projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions here in Idaho! The first project that we are working on is Greening the Grove - bringing solar power to the heart of Boise to help power all of the events held on the Grove with clean, renewable energy.

So, in order to help you determine the amount of your offset, we have made it very simple to calculate an estimate* of your average annual carbon dioxide emissions. You can choose to offset all of your emissions, or just your home or vehicle or your air travel.

You can also choose to receive a car magnet for your vehicle offset, a refrigerator magnet for offsetting your home and a luggage tag for offsetting your air travel. (A $2.50 shipping and handling charge will be added to your order to receive any or all of these items.)

To determine the dollar amount of your emissions, the calculator multiplies your carbon footprint by the current cost of carbon per metric ton. (Currently $12.00/ton). GreenWorks uses 10% of the offset proceeds to administer this program.
